Beyond the Year of Sorrow: Prophetic Ways of Overcoming Adversity

Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Know that there is much good in being patient with what you detest, victory will come with patience, affliction will come with relief, and with hardship will come with ease.’” (94:4-5)

Source: Musnad Aḥmad 2800

The Prophet of Allah (SAW), who advised us on observing patience in times of great hardship, was not spared from facing great adversity. How did he, peace and blessings be upon him, overcome the emotional agony of the Year of Sadness? What lessons can we gain from how he dealt with the loss his beloved wife Khadija (RA) and dear uncle Abu Talib (RA)? How did he remain steadfast despite the onslaught physical and verbal attacks?
